New Repelletising Line in Production

Cherry Polymers are pleased to announce that their new extrusion repelletising line has been sucessfully comissioned and is now in production.

The new repelletising line is one of the largest repelletising lines in the UK and Ireland, this new line now gives Cherry Polymers complete Closed Loop Recycling capability of all HDPE and PP from its Plastic sorting and washing facility.

The state of the art repelletising line has an output capability of 1800 Kgs per hour whilst giving maximum power efficiency and has a bespoke gravimetric blending system which enables highly accurate dosing of masterbatches and additives.

Stefan Cherry, Development Director, Cherry Plastics Group, commented, "Finally we now have our own repelletisng capability in house, this is a major step forward for our reprocessing operations as we can now add value to the materials we are handling, in the first few days of production we ran all the trials on our different grades of flakes from our washing plant through the new line and repelletised the flakes into pellet and then carried out all the various trials on the finished pellet by manufacturing it into end product and carrying out technical testing analysis, the results were outstanding.

It was amazing to finally see Pipes coming off Cherry Pipes extrusion lines using material that had been collected locally, sorted in a local MRF, the bottles then sorted in our plastic sorting facility, washed in our wash plant and repelletised with our new line, it was a great sense of achievement for all and on behalf of all Senior management I would like to thank every staff member in Cherry Polymers and Chery Pipes that has worked very hard to make what was a distant vision 5 years ago into reality today.

Now we have full control over our material supply, rite from our own lorry collects the bales of mixed bottles through the sorting, washing, reprocessing and manufacturing to delivery of the finished pipes to our customers sites throughout the UK and Ireland, this is a significant competitive advantage over our competitors and clearly shows our continual commitment to supporting our customer base and ensuring the long term position of our business in the future".
