New Wash Plant in Production
19th April 2010
Cherry Polymers new HDPE Wash Plant has been commissioned and is in production, this new HDPE Wash Plant is one of the largest and most technologically advanced HDPE Wash Plants in Europe.
This new facility now enables Cherry Polymers to reprocess all its HDPE and PP materials into high quality pellets for manufacturing applications, one of the applications will be pipe extrusion, Cherry Polymers sister company Cherry Drainage Pipes will use the HDPE pellet in the extrusion of its storm water and surface water drainage systems.
Brian Boyce, General Manager, Cherry Polymers, commented "We are now in production, after almost 4 months of very long days of building what was like a huge jigsaw puzzle, it's fantastic to see it all in production, this is the first ever wash plant in Northern Ireland and one of the largest and most advanced HDPE wash plants in Europe, it's also great to have the reprocessing circle closed as we are now able to reprocess the bottles into a high quality pellet which will then be used for a range of manufacturing applications".
Stefan Cherry, Development Director, Cherry Plastics Group, commented "It's exciting times, this new facility has been in our strategic planning for almost 5 years and it's great to finally see it in production. We have made a substantial investment in the recycling industry over the past 2 years since we acquired the plastic bottle sorting plant, the wash plant is the final link in the chain for us, as this now provides our manufacturing operations with a high quality raw material, which was always our end goal. This new facility has created jobs for the local area plus a new industry to support the local economy, we have further expansion plans for Cherry Polymers over the coming months which again will generate more new jobs in the local area. We have a great team of people in Cherry Polymers and I would like to thank them all for their hard work and the long hours they have put in to get this new plant up and running".
